Flooding keeps Chattogram-Cox‍‍`s Bazar road link closed

Cox‍‍`s Bazar and Bandarban are still shut off from the rest of the country by the Cox‍‍`s Bazar-Chattogram highway, which is still partially submerged.

The highway has flooded at four locations as a result of the seven days of nonstop rain and the onslaught of water from hilly areas, according to our media reports.

Because of this, it has been extremely difficult for anybody using the route to communicate with Cox‍‍`s Bazar and Bandarban since Tuesday.

On the alternate Banshkhali-Anowara road, some buses traveling between Chattogram and Cox‍‍`s Bazar were forced to stop service after an Anowara bridge became unsafe due to the rising water level.

According to Saiful Islam, member secretary of the Cox‍‍`s Bazar Bus Counter Owner-Manager Association, buses that left Cox‍‍`s Bazar for Dhaka last night using the alternate route are stalled before the bridge.

He also said, locals stopped the buses from using the bridge because it was starting to buckle under the weight of the water.
